This project is funded by the USDA, USEPA Region 5's Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program (PESP)and the North Central Region SARE Professional Development Program.

Project Mission:  To develop a partnership between the University of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Apple Growers Association to take the necessary steps to develop Integrated Pest Management Standards and explore the possibility of an eco-label for Wisconsin apples.

The UW and WAGA have pursued their interest in the development  of  better techniques to grow apples in Wisconsin.  The overall goal of this collaborative effort is to evaluate the extent which Wisconsin apple growers are utilizing IPM Techniques and to assign credit to those growers implementing such practices.

WAGA is dedicated to the protection of  Wisconsin's Natural Resources while continuing to produce high quality apples. By continuing to evaluate current growing practices and suggest technological improvements Wisconsin Growers have demonstrated a strong commitment to pesticide reduction.
